So you talk about my favorite Jane Austen -- a book you love as well -- for four minutes and forty-three seconds, but Portrait of the Artist As A Young Man and got what, fifteen minutes!?

Love the book of courseโ€”but I have to say I am not in love with the cover art. Hm.

Persuasion is my favorite Austen novel, and you have a beautiful edition. Yet if I had to pick between Austin and Frieda, Frieda would win in a minute.

Steve, I don't read books for their covers. Get back to the meat. What's the book about? Why is it great? What makes Jane Austen a great writer? Talk about her contemporaries, her times, her legacy. Because I know you can.

Oooh, I love the sketches in this edition! Also how photogenic is the Little Bean?!

I adore Persuasion too, it's my favourite Austen, I love the cover art for this Penguin. But endnotes are incredibly frustrating, I always forget to move the second bookmark in tandem with the first, and end up wasting time trying to orient myself amongst the endnotes trying to find the relevant entry. Footnotes make for a much nicer reading experience- why do they seem so unpopular in the publishing world?!

Iโ€™m not in love with Persuasion, but this is a beautiful edition indeed.
I do, however, remain madly in love with Frieda Bean.

Second only to Pride and Prejudice in my opinion! Absolutely love Persuasion! And what a beautiful edition...Iโ€™ve never seen that one before! Itโ€™s been immediately added to my wish list! ๐Ÿค—

Steve, can you please give me the ISBN for this edition? Thanks! You're one of the reasons I'm getting through this lockdown. I love your videos! ๐Ÿ˜€

I think Persuasion is my favourite Austen, but then I remember I don't have to choose. They can all be my favourite.

Oh my, heart be still...what a wonderful edition!

Steve, have you seen the series of annotated Jane Austen put out by Anchor Books? The text of the novel is on the left side, and the notations are on the right. The Annotation Persuasion is the last Austen I have left to read.

Definitely toooo short a video about this book. Of course you thoought everybody knows everything about it anyway, but I could hear you talk about Austen for hours :-) I would maybe be jealous about this edition but luckily - after your recommendation - I got myself the Harvard UP Annotated Edition which has the footnotes at the sides of each page. No essays on the text, though. There is no Norton Edition of this book, is there?
